On 17th of December 2015 the 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the STATREG project "Improved Regional Statistics in the Republic of Moldova" took place.

The meeting was chaired by Ms Lucia Spoiala, Director General of National Bureau of Statistics with the participation of Mr Valerian Banzaru, Director General of Regional Development, MDRC, Mr Henno Putnik,EU Delegation representative and representatives of the Regional Development Agencies South and Center, the Ministry of Finance, the Academy of Public Administration and of development partners - UNDP, SIDA/Statistics Sweden and Embassy of Romania.

The STATREG team presented the progress so far, including the work done on the preliminary calculations of regional GDP, the development of an Intranet for NBS and a proposal for a training programme for regional statistics users. The experts presented as well a result of a "Statistical Gaps Exercise" screening the current production of statistics against the needs of national policy-makers and Eurostat requirements, in order to prioritise the future work.
